DIY ideas for Easter, to have fun with children

Cotton-tipped rabbits

To make these adorable rabbits he makes you:

  • styrofoam balls (two different sizes for the head and body)
  • cotton swabs
  • plastic eyes – pipe cleaners
  • cotton balls or pink jelly beans

This is a very simple, fun activity for young children. First, cut lots of cotton swabs in half. Attach two styrofoam balls together with hot glue or using toothpicks. Perforate the balls with the cotton swabs, leaving space for the ears, nose and eyes! When you have dressed your rabbit well, take 2 pipe cleaners and cut them in half. shape the legs and ears and then fix them in the styrofoam. Finally, glue the eyes and nose with hot glue, and voila!

Adorable chicks in their egg carton

Here is a great activity to do with your children. Be careful, it requires dexterity and delicacy. For this DIY activity, you will need:

  • a dozen eggs
  • 24 small plastic eyes
  • gouache or water-based paint
  • cardboard
  • Markers
  • synthetic straw

First step (and the most difficult): empty the eggs! To do this, you need to drill a small hole at the 2 ends of the egg with a push pin. To avoid breaking the egg, try to find weaknesses in the shell (they are often a little more gray …), then put an adhesive bandage on this part. Gently push your thumbtack into both ends, and voila! To empty its content, blow into a hole by collecting the content in a bowl (we don't want to waste everything anyway).

uf! The most difficult stage is over! After that, it's time to paint the eggs and decorate them. Using gouache or water-based paint, color the eggs, then draw details, such as a flower or a toupee, in short depending on the inspiration of the moment. Cut wings and ridges that you color on the eggs, along with the plastic eyes. Put straw in your egg box, then the little chicks!

Magic eggs

To create these yarn eggs, you will need:

  • colored string (provide a package for each egg)
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup of water
  • Balloons

Combine flour and water in a bowl. Inflate balloons, depending on the number of eggs you want to make. For surprise eggs, you can slide chocolates into the balloon. Dip the string in your mixture, being careful that it does not mix (it's not very fun to untie sticky knots!). Then apply it on the balloons, creating different patterns. Let the balloons dry, it will take several hours. When they are completely dry, pop the balloons. Remove the excess glue and the balloon, leaving the chocolates inside the egg, if this is the case.

You can use them in surprise bags, when hunting eggs, or even make a garland!

Manual activities in the kitchen

Eggs in Rice Krispies

What a beautiful idea very simple to make which turns out to be a real treat for children. First, you need plastic eggs and small candies (jujubes, smarties, M&M, etc.) For the Rice Kripies recipe you will need:

  • About 40 regular marshmallows or 5 cups of miniature marshmallows
  • 2 mL or 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract or 1/4 cup cocoa (optional)
  • 50 mL or 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

In the microwave, heat the butter and marshmallows until soft, then add the cereal. Mix and then add the vanilla or cocoa. Let cool before molding in the coconuts.

Open all the Easter coconuts then, using a spoon, spread the mixture evenly over the walls. Refrigerate so that the dough hardens (20-30 minutes), add the candies, then close the coconut. There you go !

Yum ! Surprised rabbits!

To prepare these cute rabbits, you will need:

  • 16 squares of milk chocolate
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1.5 dry baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg

Heat the butter, sour cream and water in a small saucepan, stirring. Let cool then add the other ingredients. Mix everything using an electric mixer. If the dough is too firm, add a little water.
Let the dough rise to double its initial volume, then cut it into 16 equal parts. Form oval balls around the chocolate squares. On a baking sheet, covered with parchment paper, place the rabbits and cut the ears using scissors. You can then add the eyes, which can be peppercorns for example, or simply make holes.

Bake at 375 ° for about 12 minutes or until golden brown.

Chocolate cups, a real treat!

To make these delicious chocolate cups, you will need:

  • Balloons
  • 500g of chocolate (dark, milk, white, according to your taste)
  • ice cream
  • candies (chocolate pastilles, jujubes, according to the inspiration of the moment)

Inflate a few balloons (depending on the number of cups you want to make). In a bowl, melt the chocolate. On a cookie jar, place a small amount of chocolate, which will be the base of your cut. Dip a balloon in the melted chocolate and place it on the base. Repeat until stocks are exhausted! Put the jail in the refrigerator until the chocolate is firm, then pop the balloons. After that, drop a scoop of ice cream on it and decorate it with candy. There you go !

Funny games idea

Nice wooden stick puzzles

Easy as pie, this DIY idea is a guaranteed success! You only need wooden sticks and paint or felt tip pens.

Draw Easter figures (carrot, rabbit, hen, eggs, etc.) on a few sticks, then let your children solve the puzzle! They can very well draw the figures themselves, if you hold the sticks together. Simple and done in no time, it's fun!

Fun Easter Ball Game

To organize this game, you will need:

  • two cardboard boxes
  • glue
  • white paper
  • gouache or colored pencils
  • plastic balls

Cut out two large ears and a tongue from one of the two boxes. In the second box, cut the rabbit's mouth. Draw or paint the rabbit's face (eyes, nose, mustaches, cheeks, etc.) and the tongue of the rabbit. Cut smaller paper ears to stick them on the large cardboard ears. When this step is done, you can stick them on the big box. There you go ! You have your goal for the ball game.

Easter bingo!

Another very simple idea that will delight children, regardless of their age. To play, you can create your own game boxes. However, it can take a long time! We therefore suggest that you print already printed maps. For chips, we recommend using chocolate eggs (ex: Mini Eggs) You can have chocolate prizes drawn for the winners, or play for fun.
