The car couldn’t be more eye-catching. A Lamborghini Huracan. 610 hp! with a very special paintwork: green, red and black. The colors of the Gucci fashion house. And a golden bee on the front.
With this PS monster, a Swiss (31) landed in Austria in Mondsee on Tuesday. The police assume that the driver confused the brake and accelerator pedals. The accident caused a stir and glee. Even with the police in Austria: “He probably wanted to be the successor to Daniel Craig as James Bond,” the police wrote on Twitter.
Blick research shows: The Protz-Karre belongs to Matthias A. * from Eastern Switzerland. He wants to remain anonymous. He sounds a little worn out on the phone, but composed. The first shock seems to have been overcome. “I’m almost a little embarrassed myself about the accident,” he says to Blick.
“I just started swimming”
He can’t remember exactly what happened. Suddenly he landed in the water. It just had to work there. “I held my breath, lowered the window and just started swimming.” When he had land under his feet again, the relief was enormous. He was very hypothermic, the clothes had contracted because of the water.
The rescue workers later found the car about 15 meters from the shore at a depth of around five meters. Matthias A. was already in the hospital by then. Apart from minor injuries, nothing could be found there. After a few minutes he was released, says a hospital spokesman to Blick.
And the Gucci Lambo? He’s still with the towing service, who is waiting for a call from the Swiss. A. does not yet know how his Lamborghini is doing. He hopes for the best. “I only redone everything a month ago, paintwork, rims, tires,” says the entrepreneur. The fact that the accident happened now, of all things, was “very troublesome”.
The car is not leased
Friends describe A. as a prudent, normal driver. He has nothing to do with razors or posers. “At the weekend the car was still in front of the house,” says neighbor Hans B. * to Blick.
He describes A. as a friendly person, we talk to each other again and again. A month ago the Lamborghini was still white, and the luxury sled was already attracting attention. A. paid around 300,000 francs for it, says Hans B. and adds that the vehicle is by no means leased, as many would suspect. “After all, we are here in Eastern Switzerland and not in Aargau.”
B. suspects A. could have got stuck on the pedals. In the Lamborghini, as is usual with a racing car, these are very close to one another. He wishes his neighbor a speedy recovery and hopes that the Gucci Lamborghini will soon be back on the road.
