Of course, large mobile homes, campervans and off-road trailers offer every imaginable comfort. But it needs space. Parking a 12-metre mobile in the forest and hiding it from prying or even envious, covetous looks is much more difficult than is the case with a compact trailer with a pop-up tent.
Many overnight and camp sites are inaccessible with large vehicles from the outset. Then maybe only public parking spaces, campsites or a farmer’s property remain as an alternative – and with that you become dependent on others.

Of course, Mad Max mobiles exude their very own appeal. We don’t know what motivates you, but investing in a vehicle out of fear of war, a pandemic or an alien invasion should only be an option for the particularly well-off.
It would be a shame if the beautiful four-wheel drive camper or off-road scooter, electric motorbike or bicycle camper rotted away in the garage all year round just waiting for the world to end. Your getaway vehicle should also bring you joy in “peacetime”. So it doesn’t hurt if it brings everyday and holiday qualities with it.
