eBay Classifieds: The new name has been decided

It has been known for a long time that eBay Classifieds will have to change its name. Since the website no longer belongs to eBay, a new name is needed. It has now been announced, as well as other changes that users expect.

eBay classifieds become classifieds

Even when eBay separated from eBay classifieds, it was clear that a new name was needed. There has been a lot of speculation, but now the name is certain. eBay classifieds simply become classifieds. The company, which now belongs to Adevinta, will keep at least half of its name. The name change must be completed by June 2024. Until then, eBay can still be in the name. There is no new logo yet. The eBay logo is still very present there.

Otherwise nothing changes in the basic principle. You can continue to place classified ads and use the known functions. With time will introduced a “buy direct” function. This allows you to buy products directly from classifieds – without contacting or negotiating. It is then comparable to the “buy now” function on eBay. So here the two platforms are in direct competition. It is quite possible that this possibility will bring more commercial providers to classified ads, who previously had to spend a lot of time communicating before a purchase was made.

Classifieds becomes safer

Pretty much every service has it a two-factor authenticationto secure access. Exactly such a function is now also planned for classified ads. The new function will be installed and activated in the coming weeks. From then on you will have to verify yourself via a second device when you log in. That should limit the phishing attacks, which have increased massively in recent months. In our opinion, it should have been introduced years ago and is now standard on other major platforms.
