“123456”, “password” or “hello” – a look at the top 10 most popular passwords shows that many users don’t seem to put much effort into assigning a password. This may be convenient, but it also comes with significant security risks. Because such standard passwords can be cracked by hackers in no time at all.
Data reconciliation with compromised passwords
At least on eBay classifieds, the hackers should have a harder time in the future. Because the online retailer has tightened its rules for assigning passwords. Recently, eBay classifieds matches its users’ passwords with a record of “Have I Been Pwned?” away. The database includes over 350 million entries of insecure, cracked passwords. Compromised passwords can no longer be used on eBay classifieds.

Instead of contacting other users via e-mail or telephone number and paying money to a bank account, it is best to use the “Pay securely” function. As a result, the entire purchase process runs directly via eBay classifieds.
