PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The Governor of the Banque de la France, François Villeroy de Galhau, estimated on Wednesday that the European Central Bank (ECB) could raise its rates gradually from this summer.

“From the summer, I think the European Central Bank will gradually raise its interest rates,” said the central banker, interviewed on France Inter.

François Villeroy de Galhau also estimated that high inflation in France “should last for another year” before starting to fall “at the beginning of next year, depending on energy prices”.

Then, “inflation should return to around 2% by 2024”, he estimated.
