The Echo Show 10 clearly beats its smaller sister models in comparison
The third generation of the Echo Show 10 is the best device in the range in terms of both design and functionality – leaving aside the slightly different Echo Show 15. In addition to networking and controlling smart devices throughout the home, the combination of smart speaker and tablet display is also suitable as a small entertainment station and communication terminal. While the video streaming functions remain limited, the music playback in all directions at a limited volume is pleasantly good. While smart home enthusiasts are absolutely right here, many newcomers are likely to be put off by the high price.

After the Echo Show 15, the Echo Show 10 is the second largest device in the Amazon series, but in contrast to the clearly large-format smart screen in mural format, it comes with a decent sound system that can be compared with the Echo Show 8, which can be used better as a speaker .

In terms of price, however, the Echo Show 10 is clearly ahead of the smaller devices in the series: The purchase price of 269.99 euros from Amazon for the 3rd generation is only slightly below the Echo Show 15 and significantly above the Google Nest Hub 2.
What sets the Echo Show 10 apart from its sister models and Google’s competitor, however, is its mobility: the smart rotatable screen allows you to reach its screen controls 360 degrees, which makes the upper-class Echo significantly more flexible in terms of placement and field of application.

Where all other Echo and Echo Show models are designed as if from a single source and are therefore quite indestructible, the Echo Show 10 is clearly out of line – and this is mainly due to the combined functionality of the surround sound speaker and rotating tablet screen do.

The basis of the Amazon device consists of a round speaker unit to which a 360-degree swivel tablet is attached, which can also be tilted via a hinge. This flexibility offers enormous advantages in use, but also has weaknesses that will be discussed in the test.
Amazon Echo Show 10 in the test: connection and setup
Like its sister models from Amazon’s fleet of Echo devices, the Echo Show 10 has no other connections apart from the slot for the necessary power supply unit. Audio hobbyists have to do without an interface for sound input via cable, but connecting the smart speaker is also very easy. Once a sensible place for the Echo Show 10 has been found, the device only has to be connected to the power supply.
In households with an existing Alexa infrastructure and an existing Amazon account, setup can be completed quickly using the on-screen controls. If you don’t have Amazon access or if you have your first Alexa device with the Echo Show 10, it will take a little longer – and you simply cannot avoid setting up a user account with the Internet giant, as with the other devices from Amazon.
Amazon Echo Show 10 in the test: operation and function
In everyday use, the Echo Show 10 finally shows its strengths as a design outlier in the device family: the built-in camera in the display not only recognizes the user during operation, but also helps with the automatic alignment of the tablet element via the 360-degree rotatable tablet element stand. This is extremely practical for video calls in particular and prevents constant fumbling with the Echo’s standing position. Especially compared to the Echo Show 15, which hangs stubbornly on the wall, the screen is aligned to the user’s position and not vice versa.
In addition, the operation on the 10-inch display is much more pleasant than that of the cheaper Echo Show 8 with the correspondingly smaller screen. The tiltability of the screen also makes operation much more ergonomic than the mostly awkward tapping on the Echo Show 15 on the wall, which, unlike the bulbous Echo Show 10, does not require any floor space.

The haptic controls on the side of the tablet screen for adjusting the volume are also easy to use. What is less pleasing is the still strong screen reflection, which also affects the other models in the Show series from model 5 to 15. That doesn’t necessarily invite you to use the streaming functionality with Netflix and other streaming services on the Echo Show 10. This means that video streaming on the Show series of devices remains more of a secondary function with a relatively low comfort factor.
Amazon Echo Show 10 in the test: sound
The cylindrical design of the Echo Show 10’s speaker base makes it an ideal speaker for placement in the middle of the room. The sound performance is quite decent and has a rich bass, but it distorts in the upper quarter of the volume control. However, if you want to bring even more sound into the room, you can use speaker pairs via other Echo devices – or even bring the powerful Echo Studio into the house.
Amazon Echo Show 10 Review: Smart Home
In addition to Alexa voice control, the Echo Show 10 with its large touch display is an ideal control center for the smart home, around which literally everything in the networked home revolves. Live feeds from cameras and fine-tuning of smart lighting elements can be conveniently accessed and enable orchestration of the smart home from a central location. The networking of devices still works better via the Alexa app on the smartphone.

Anyone who is hesitating between purchasing an Echo Show 8, 10 and 15 can actually make the right choice very easily based on these criteria: If you are mainly looking for a smart screen that can also be attached to the wall to save space and has the largest possible user interface, this is the one for you Echo Show 15 best advice.
Echo Show 8, 10 or 15: This is the right choice
However, the latter is extremely weak in terms of sound. So if the focus is much more on the sound and the touch display is only a minor matter, the Echo Show 8 is also sufficient for significantly less money – because the sound of the mid-range Echo Show is really good. However, if you want the best of both worlds, you won’t be able to avoid the Echo Show 10 – because only this offers sound and a touchscreen in a larger format.
However, there is a catch with the Echo Show 10: where children romp around, play and try things out, the swiveling smart speaker with its movable elements lives much more dangerously.
