  • Filming of the new MCU series “Echo” has started.
  • We learn more about Maya Lopez in the “Hawkeye” spin-off.
  • In addition to Daredevil and Kingpin, Jessica Jones is another character from the Netflix series to land on Disney+.

There will be no second season of Hawkeye on Disney+. The reason for this is not the lack of success of the series, but the plans of MCU boss Kevin Feige, who wants to use Hawkeye and Kate Bishop in other projects. Instead, “Hawkeye” fans will receive a series spin-off with “Echo”.

Although Echo aka Maya Lopez was introduced in “Hawkeye” and is known from the comics, it was still surprising that this character got its own series without a large fan base. However, the initial information on “Echo” does suggest how the Marvel series could be useful for the MCU.

In addition to previous reports that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin are to be prominently featured in “Echo”, the appearance of Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) has now also been announced. The characters from the Netflix Marvel series, which are now officially part of the MCU, could be dealt with in detail in “Echo”.

While Kingpin previously appeared in Hawkeye and Daredevil guest-starred in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jessica Jones has yet to join the MCU since the Netflix series was canceled. However, fans and leading actress Krysten Ritter herself always hoped that the New York private detective would be allowed to investigate again and not simply be cast again.

In the comics, Jessica Jones and Maya Lopez aren’t as closely related as Maya, Daredevil, and Kingpin, but Jessica Jones fits well into a series that tells a down-to-earth New York story.

Should that happen, Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) would be left of the old Marvel Netflix squad. Bernthal will probably return as the Punisher one day, although Disney has yet to find a way to meaningfully integrate the brutal character into the MCU.

Luke Cage and especially Iron Fist only have a few fans left who mourn their series and so it is quite possible that Disney is planning a reboot here and introducing the characters to the MCU with new actors. Alternatively, you could also do without them entirely.

Since filming on “Echo” began on April 21, 2022, set pictures could soon confirm all the rumors and theories. In the Disney+ novelty program, however, he continues with “Moon Knight” and “Ms. Marvel”.
