Ecovacs currently offers four robotic lawnmowers under the code name GOAT: G1, G1-800, G1-2000 and GX-600. We show the differences between the model family.
Ecovacs, a manufacturer known to many for robot vacuum cleaners, also offers robotic lawnmowers. In spring 2024, three new models were added to the GOAT series: G1-800, G1-2000 and GX-600. Together with the GOAT G1, the range was expanded to four robotic lawnmowers.

The GOATs all mow at the same adjustable cutting height of three to six centimeters with a cutting width of 22 centimeters. According to Ecovacs, the operating volume is 59 dB(A). All models do not require a boundary wire.

As is usual for an outdoor device, all Ecovacs robotic lawnmowers are waterproof to IPX6. AIVI 3D is used as the technology for obstacle avoidance. All GOATs can communicate via WiFi.
The maximum lawn area can be found directly in the name of the three new models: G1-800 for 800 square meters, GX-600 for 600 square meters and G1-2000 for 2,000 square meters. Due to the large area, the latter also installed a 4G module. The GOAT G1 is designed for a maximum lawn area of 1,600 square meters.
The mowing performance per day for the new models is exactly half of the maximum mowing area. So while the G1-2000 creates 1,000 square meters per day, the G1-800 does 400 and the GX-600 300 square meters per day. The G1 creates 600 square meters.
Incline and terrain capability
Apart from the GX-600, which can climb 40 percent inclines, the other robotic lawnmowers, i.e. all G1 models, can overcome inclines of up to 45 percent. The blades are floating and should deliver consistent results even on slightly uneven terrain.
However, Ecovacs describes the G1-2000 as particularly “off-road capable”. Equipped with all-terrain tires, it can drive over stony surfaces and sharp edges.
Navigation and mowing zones

The three GOAT G1 models use navigation beacons to communicate and limit the mowing area. Clear edges such as fences, walls and paths can also be recognized and used for localization, but especially for demarcation.

In the area of the beacons, up to 16 mowing areas can be set manually via the app without a clear visual separation. Thanks to obstacle avoidance, each tree does not have to be excluded individually. Instead, these are recognized and avoided.

The GX-600, on the other hand, relies entirely on visual sensors and navigates using a camera similar to a vacuum robot. The key advantage is the ease of setup. In principle, all you have to do is place the robotic lawnmower on the lawn, start it and it will take care of it. You don’t have to (and can’t) set any mowing zones manually.

However, this also has disadvantages. There are special requirements for the lawns. In order for an area to be seen as a whole, it must be at least one meter wide at every point. In addition, mowing and restricted areas must be clearly demarcated by fences, paths, steps, etc. so that the GX-600 does not simply drive away.

Accesories
While the garage is included with the GOAT G1-2000, it is available separately for the other three models at a price of 149 euros from Ecovacs. A set of knives costs 15 euros from the manufacturer.
The GOAT G1 also comes with two navigation beacons and the GOAT G1-2000 has four. These cost 99 euros per piece from the manufacturer. For the GOAT G1, a mobile radio module and a car connection module are also available from the manufacturer for 99 and 249 euros, respectively. A car connection module is included with the G1-2000.
Prices and availability
Since the G1-2000 also includes a garage, car connection module and two beacons, it costs significantly more. Otherwise, the larger the maximum lawn area, the higher the price. Except for the GX-600, which is priced between the G1-800 and G1.

According to Ecovacs, the new GOAT GX-600 and G1-2000 are expected to be delivered from mid-April to early May 2024. You can pre-order them on Amazon. The G1-800 in white and gray is already available to buy. Discounts have not yet been offered. The slightly older GOAT G1 was available from 1,399 euros.
Conclusion
The purchase decision primarily depends on the lawn area to be mowed. For a garden under 600 square meters, one of the two cheaper models is sufficient. If you value simplicity and don’t want to configure anything too much, go for the GOAT GX-600.

However, if your garden does not fit into the specifications so that the GX-600 cannot simply go where it wants, or you value clearly definable mowing areas, it will probably be a model from the G1 series. You then select these according to the size of the mowing area, as otherwise they don’t really differ.
