Ed Sheeran is promoting his new album “=” with a concert experience that will be shown on December 5th via Amazon Prime.

Ed Sheeran (30) will present his new album “=” (pronounced: “Equals”) on Sunday, December 5th from 9:00 pm in front of a selected audience. The exclusive concert will take place at Alexandra Palace in London, and only those taking part in a competition are allowed to attend.

At least on site – viewers from all over the world can watch the concert in front of the screens. That’s about that Amazon Music app, the Amazon channel on Twitch or with the Amazon streaming service Prime Video.

New and old music and augmented reality

Sheeran wants to take his fans on a journey through his career so far for 90 minutes. “I look forward to celebrating the release of ‘=’ with this special concert and with my fans around the world,” Sheeran said, according to a press release. And announces: “I will also be playing a whole bunch of new tracks for the very first time this evening!” In addition, some excerpts from the “Equals Listening Experience” are to be shown. It’s an augmented reality experience created for fans in London for the album launch in October.

Large concert specials with TV or streaming broadcasts seem to be a new trend for the promotion of a new album. Adele (33) also celebrated her first album in six years with a 90-minute concert, which can be seen in Germany under the title “An Evening with Adele” on Erste and MDR.
