He reveals details about his wedding for the first time

Despite his star status, singer Ed Sheeran largely keeps his small family out of the public eye. For the first time, he now gives insights into his secret wedding with childhood sweetheart Cherry Seaborn. The two tied the knot in January 2019.
Ed Sheeran, 30, speaks on Jessy Wares, 36, podcast “Table Maners” for the first time about his wedding to Cherry Seaborn, 29. The conversation between the two initially revolves around Ed and Cherry’s trip to Antarctica and his own seemingly constantly changing eating habits until he finally – finally – talks about his wedding ceremony.

“The actual wedding of me and Cherry was a tiny affair that hardly anyone was there,” he says. “We did it at night, on a random day in mid-January, in the middle of nowhere.”
Around midnight they made their vows, the singer said: “Nobody knew, nobody came around, we lit candles and we got married, went back and ate a curry.”
Cell phones were banned at the Sheeran wedding
A few months later, the young parents of their daughter Lyra Antarctica, who was born last year, then celebrated a big party – to which some stars were invited. Cell phones, however, were completely banned. “The wedding party was more of a celebration for us and our friends,” says Ed on the podcast and is surprised that actually not a single photo was made public.

Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn have known each other since school
Ed and Cherry met while they were still in school and both attended Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk. In their youth, however, nothing more than a friendship developed, even if it is rumored again and again that Ed was already in love with his Cherry back then. It wasn’t until 2015 that the two started dating.
Podcast host Jessy Ware and Ed Sheeran already know each other from joint projects. For example, Ed worked on the song “Sam”, which Jessy dedicated to her husband before the birth of her first child.
