Guitar legend Eddie Van Halen recently passed away. His ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli now shares old photos of the two.
A few days ago Eddie Van Halen (1955-2020, "Jump") lost the fight against cancer. His ex-wife, Valerie Bertinelli (60), with whom he was married between 1981 and 2007 and with whom he had their son Wolfgang (29), is now sharing several photos in an Instagram story in which the two can be seen – and which she obviously associates with special memories.
They met that night
On a 40-year-old picture of Bertinelli hugging her ex-husband, she explains: "The night we met." A second recording of the evening shows that this was in Shreverport, in the US state of Louisiana, at the end of August 1980. This is followed by a photo from Christmas 1980 and a picture from 1981 in which the two are in each other's arms. The last thing she shares is a photo that shows Van Halen, Bertinelli and their son Wolfgang, who is apparently sitting on a carousel horse, in New York's Central Park.
Bertinelli had also said goodbye to the rock legend on Instagram with touching words: "When I met you 40 years ago, my life changed forever." Eddie Van Halen gave her "this one, true light in my life", their son Wolfgang.
