Singer Eddy de Pretto was cyberharassed in 2021, after a concert. Since then, eleven people have been convicted. He explains how music helped him rebuild himself.
Celebrities can also be victims of cyberbullying, particularly when they are minorities. This is for example the case of the singer Hoshi, who recently revealed that she had received death threats after kissing a dancer on stage during his performance at the 2020 Victoires de la Musique. Or even from the artist Eddy de Pretto, who was in 2021 the target of numerous insults with homophobic connotationsafter performing a song evoking his homosexuality during a concert at the Saint-Eustache church in Paris. In December 2022, eleven people were sentenced to sentences ranging from three to six months in prison, suspended by the Paris Criminal Court. The singer returned to this period in an interview with Provencepublished this Friday, September 15.
“Seeing the faces of these people, seeing the hatred they sympathize with on a daily basis, helped me gain perspective.to tell myself that I am not from that family“, confides Eddy de Pretto to our colleagues.
