Edeka: Supermarket throws mother and child out because of their outfits

In an Edeka in Duisburg, a family's shopping came to an abrupt end: mother and child were thrown from the supermarket. They were wearing the wrong clothes.

How often did you dare to go outside in sweatpants this year? We assume: significantly more often than we ever expected. Because the corona crisis and the corresponding stay-home attitude has definitely not left our choice of outfits without a trace. Nowadays, in the home office as well as on the couch – the main thing is that it has to be cozy. But you shouldn't let yourself go too much in public, as a current case from Duisburg shows.

Edeka sets the dress code – pajamas stay outside!

There a mother and her daughter have now been referred to an Edeka branch. The reason for this was actually their demeanor – or the choice of clothes they decided to go shopping. While the woman came along in a pink bathrobe with dots (not bad!), Her daughter is also said to have only worn pajamas. That pissed off the branch management, who unceremoniously put the family in front of the shop door. Mother and daughter were not allowed to continue shopping in their outfit.

The head of the company, Frank Schneider, told WAZ: "Hygiene is very important at the moment." The Edeka employee is alluding to the corona crisis, in which more attention must be paid to one another. He no longer wanted to see an appearance like that of mother and daughter in pajamas in his shop.

Now there is actually a dress code at Edeka in Duisburg. If you want to shop there, you have to stick to it – and please come in normal street clothes. So that no further misunderstandings arise, the rule is posted prominently at the entrance: "People with a dressing gown and pajamas are not allowed into our shop," it says.

And we quietly ask ourselves: Do leggings and sweatpants count as pajamas?
