EDF: commissioning of a 480 MW wind farm – 23/11/2022 at 10:51

(CercleFinance.com) – EDF Renewables and EIH (owned by En-bridge and CPP Investments) announce the full commissioning of the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm with an installed capacity of 480 MW.

Located between 12 and 20 km from the coast, the park’s 80 wind turbines now produce the equivalent of 20% of the Loire-Atlantique’s annual electricity consumption.

‘For three years, the construction teams were fully mobilized on land and at sea so that the park is now able to supply electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of 700,000 people’ indicates the group.

‘ This first wind farm is fully in line with the strategy of the EDF group, which wishes to double its net renewable energy capacity in the world to reach 60 GW in 2030. It also contributes to the Government’s National Low-Carbon Strategy, which aims to carbon neutrality from 2050 through energy sobriety, nuclear power and the acceleration of renewables,” said Bruno Bensasson, Executive Director of the EDF group, in charge of renewable energies and Chairman and CEO of EDF Renouvelables.
