PARIS, Aug 9 (Reuters) – EDF announced on Tuesday that it filed an appeal with the Council of State and a claim for compensation from the State for an amount estimated to date at 8.34 billion euros in response to the decision of the French government to increase the volume of nuclear electricity at reduced prices sold by the group to its competitors.

In mid-January, the executive announced that, to limit the increase in regulated electricity tariffs (TRV) to 4% on February 1, it would increase by 100 to 120 terawatt-hours (TWh) the volumes that EDF must give in to its competitors within the framework of the Arenh system (regulated access to historical nuclear electricity).

In a press release, EDF had specified that the impact of these measures on its operating profit (Ebitda) 2022 was estimated at around 8.4 billion euros on the basis of market prices at December 31, 2021, at 7.7 billion to January 12, 2022.

The allocation of additional Arenh volumes was made in mid-March by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). (written by Jean-Stéphane Brosse, edited by Tangi Salaün)
