EDF: renationalization would not solve all the problems


The option of nationalization is pushed very hard by the management of the electrician. This would prevent it from selling one of its precious assets, such as Edison, or its activities in renewable energies.

Over the weeks, the idea took hold. EDF is doing so badly that it will be necessary, seventeen years after its partial privatization, to renationalise it. This is the great mechanic to come. EDF can no longer face its industrial challenges without being nationalized, we hear from the electrician as well as at the top of the State. “On some of the most sovereign activities, the State must take back capital, which goes with a broader reform of the first French electrician”, declared Emmanuel Macron, then candidate for his succession, on March 17. Asked about the subject on Thursday, the Minister for Energy Transition, Agnès Panier-Runacher, indicated on France info that the subject “is part of (his) mandate. It is not excluded, it is not decided”.
