(Boursier.com) — The President of the Republic plans, on the proposal of the Prime Minister, to appoint Mr. Luc Rémont as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer ofEDF, confirmed the Elysée in a brief press release today. The President of the National Assembly and the President of the Senate are seized of this draft appointment, so that the interested committee of each of the assemblies decides under the conditions provided for by the fifth paragraph of Article 13 of the Constitution.

This official announcement does not come as a surprise. Luc Rémont, in charge of international operations at Schneider Electric, was received at the Elysee Palace yesterday afternoon according to Le Figaro. He would succeed Jean-Bernard Lévy, whose term of office expired next spring. Rémont was already a big favorite in the race for the management of the public company. The Élysée therefore decided for a single governance attributed to Luc Rémont, who would become CEO as was his predecessor. The Élysée would have hesitated for a long time to opt for the solution of dissociated governance.
