PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The electricity producer EDF plans to increase its development expenditure in the field of renewables by nearly 30% in 2022, the group’s executive director in charge of renewable energies said on Wednesday. Bruno Bensasson, during a press conference.
EDF has invested nearly 2 billion euros in renewables in 2021, said the manager of EDF Renewables, an entity which notably includes the group’s solar, wind and hydraulic activities.
The group also launched a plan on Wednesday dedicated to hydrogen, by which it aims to become one of the leaders in the production of 100% low-carbon hydrogen by 2030, indicated the executive director of EDF in charge of innovation. , corporate responsibility and strategy, Alexandre Perra, during the same press conference.
This plan provides for the development of 3 gross gigawatts (GW) of projects worldwide by 2030, for co-financed investments, within the framework of industrial partnerships and benefiting from public support, amounting to 2 billion to 3 billion euros, added Alexandre Perra.
EDF intends to be present on “the whole value chain” of hydrogen, in particular from the production of low-carbon electricity to the operation of hydrogen distribution stations, but does not plan to produce electrolysers, explained the leader.
