Edouard Philippe unrecognizable: “I have …”, the former Prime Minister says more about his illness

Invited on the BFMTV channel, Edouard Philippe returned to this disease which whitens his hair before causing it to fall.

This Thursday, February 2, 2022, Edouard Philippe was the guest of Bruce Toussaint on BFMTV. The former Prime Minister returned to his political career, his ambitions but also his physical appearance, which has changed a lot in recent months. Indeed, the politician is suffering from alopecia, an autoimmune disease that whitens his hair before it disappears. From now on, his hair and beard are white and he no longer has any eyebrow hairs. “I lost my eyebrows and I don’t think they will come back. My beard has turned white and it’s falling out a bit. My hair is also falling out. The mustache is gone, I don’t know if it will come back, I would be surprised . I have what is called alopecia”he confided.

The opportunity for the former head of government Macron to describe this disease. “It is useful to say that alopecia can start very young or very old. It is a loss of hair. It is neither painful, nor dangerous, nor contagious, nor serious. 52 years old, at my age losing your hair, it’s not a big deal. I’m lucky”. Edouard Philippe then evokes the cause of this disease: “[Les médecins] told me it could be stress. Maybe, do I have a stressful life? Yes I confirm it! (…) But it could have happened if I hadn’t been Prime Minister“.

Edouard Philippe makes an update

If Edouard Philippe agrees to come back to this subject, he does not necessarily want to be reminded every day that he is losing his hair. “I think the French can be curious about what’s happening, questioning. I talk about it in full transparency but I’m not going to spend my time talking about it either. Again it’s a hair story, this n doesn’t matter!”. A way to play down the situation and above all to send a strong message: it is good to accept yourself as you are!
