Education Covid-19: 14,380 classes closed, the highest since the first confinement

Currently, 14,380 classes are closed, according to the Ministry of Education, which represents the highest since the first confinement.

Some 331,775 cases of Covid have been confirmed among students cumulatively over the past seven days, the ministry added in a press release, while contaminations have multiplied in schools with the Omicron wave.

The health protocol creates the “mess”

The health protocol provides for children to do three self-tests to return to class if a positive case is declared in their class. Source of a “mess”, it has already been modified several times since the start of the school year.

Teachers, but also many parents, mobilized on Thursday to denounce the management of Omicron by the government, particularly Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer.

However, the government is sticking to its “open school” doctrine, despite criticism.
