Eiffage and Termotecnica sign the EPC contract for the Puerto Antioquia maritime terminal in Colombia

(Boursier.com) — Eiffage through Eiffage Génie Civil Marine, leader of the 50/50 consortium with the Colombian company Termotecnica Coindustrial SA, has just signed the EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) contract for the Puerto Antioquia maritime terminal in Colombia for an amount total of 370 million dollars (345 million euros).

Eiffage Concessions is also involved in the operation as an indirect minority shareholder of the project company, Puerto Bahia Colombia de Uraba SA, alongside the CMA CGM Group, a world leader in maritime transport and logistics, via its subsidiary CMA Terminals and local partners.

The financing of the operation is provided by the Inter-American Development Bank and the Colombian banks FDN, Davivienda and Bancoldex, as well as by the GIP investment fund and by an equity contribution from the shareholders of the project company. Including the main terminal but also an annex terminal and all the port equipment, this financing was finalized at the end of December 2021 for an amount of $760 million (710 ME).

Located on the Atlantic coast of Colombia, the Puerto Antioquia project is considered by the Colombian government as a project of priority national interest. It is strategically positioned on a major axis of international container transport, near Medellin, one of the main economic zones of the country.

The contract covers the design and construction of a complete port infrastructure comprising an offshore platform – for the simultaneous docking of 5 container ships – connected, by a 3.5 km offshore viaduct and a 320 m bridge, to a 35ha land terminal fully equipped with its operating buildings and warehouses.

On-site production will be favored with the manufacture of all the steel piles intended for the foundations of the viaduct and the docking platform as well as the precast concrete elements of the viaduct. The concrete deck of the docking platform will be poured in place thanks to the significant maritime resources mobilized by Eiffage Génie Civil Marine.

Work should start during the second quarter of 2022.

This contract won by Eiffage in South America consolidates the Group’s position on large, complex multi-business international projects calling in particular for advanced skills in maritime civil engineering, such as those currently being carried out in Africa and the Middle East.
