Eiffage: contract for a desalination plant in Senegal


(CercleFinance.com) – Eiffage won the contract awarded by the National Water Company of Senegal (SONES) as part of a consortium.

This contract covers the design, construction and operation for 24 months of the future Mamelles seawater desalination plant in Dakar, Senegal.

The total amount of the contract is nearly 146 million euros. Eiffage teams are carrying out the work, VA Tech Wabag is in charge of the water treatment process and Toyota Tsusho Corporation is co-managing the project with Eiffage.

The contract is part of the Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE) which aims to provide universal access to drinking water by 2035.

With a production capacity of 50,000 m3 per day, the plant will be the largest in West Africa. It will cover the needs of 1,000,000 inhabitants.
