A woman in Hallein got a real shock on Thursday when she came home from vacation. A scorpion appeared while she was unpacking her luggage.
The woman reacted with presence of mind and called the emergency number of the Austrian Animal Rescue in Salzburg. She had already locked the scorpion, which is a few centimeters in size, in a screw-top jar. The animal rescuers asked the Salzburg Zoo for accommodation for the stowaway and were able to accommodate him there. A very similar case happened recently in neighboring Bavaria… This scorpion was housed in the Salzburg reptile zoo “World of Poisons”.
