Eighth in Munich – Steiner’s chances for the Olympics are very good

Sports shooter Sylvia Steiner finished eighth in her tenth World Cup final. Thanks to her good result in Munich, she still has every chance of getting an Olympic ticket.

Shooter Sylvia Steiner finished eighth in the final of the 25m pistol competition at the World Cup in Munich on Tuesday, when Frenchwoman Camille Jedrzejewski won. The Salzburg shooter has thus created the best conditions to gain an Olympic ticket via the qualification rankings. Steiner is in second place in this discipline, and is even first in the air pistol rankings. The qualification period ends on Sunday with the end of the Munich World Cup, and the International Federation (ISSF) will publish the list of qualifiers in just over a week. In each competition, a ticket for the Paris Games is awarded via this route. Austria’s shooters have achieved two quota places – Alexander Schmirl one in August in the KK three-position match, and Martin Strempfl one with the air rifle in June.
