Eighting studio is working on a Hunter x Hunter fighting game

The announcement even mentions a “ large-scale fighting game », which should spare us the surprise appearance of mobile when announcing the platforms concerned. Because the announcement stops for the moment here: the publisher Bushiroad Games is giving us an appointment on January 6 for a special presentation of its catalog live from Tokyo Dome City Hall. For the moment, Bushiroad Games has in its catalog fairly modest licensed games based on Shin-Chan Pencil, Goblin Slayer or Macro. What remains is the experience of the Eighting studio, which has long been experienced in fighting games, particularly 2D, with titles like DNF Duel, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Good hunters

Always threatened with never having a satisfactory conclusion due to the recurring health problems of its author and the resulting frequent long breaks in its publication rhythm, Hunter x Hunter is a shônen as fascinating as it is confusing born in 1998. It has more than 84 million volumes sold as well as several adaptations into animated series, often successful (notably the arcs of Yorknew City and Chimera Ants). Sometimes inventive, convoluted, capable of getting lost in endless explanations, the manga remains a separate work which currently has 37 volumes published by Kana. More important for a fighting game, it especially has many charismatic and striking characters whose powers are based on the use of a complex concept, the Nocapable of taking many forms in battle.

The list of video games Hunter x Hunter is much larger than one might think from home, and has been since Hunter x Hunter: Ishi wo Tsugu Mono, Bandai’s very first foray into RPG form. It was on WonderSwan in June 2000. However, regardless of the publisher (Bandai Namco, Konami, DeNA), the genre (RPG, adventure, platform) or the platform (PlayStation, PSP, Nintendo DS), no game stamp Hunter x Hunter did not emerge in the West. To embody a character in the work, you had to rely on the crossover with a special mention for Jump Force in which Gon, Killua, Kurapika, Hisoka but also Biscuit and Meruem are represented in DLC. There remains the bitter taste of untapped potential that Bushiroad Games and Eighting will therefore try to fill.
