Actress Eileen Ryan is dead. Sean Penn’s mother died at the age of 94, according to US media reports.
The US actress Eileen Ryan (1927-2022) died a week before her 95th birthday. A spokesman for the family said so according to the industry portal “Deadline”.. Also “Variety” and “The Hollywood Reporters” report that Ryan has passed away.
“We Lost Mom Yesterday”
The mother of musician Michael Penn (64) and actors Sean (62) and Chris Penn (1965-2006) died on October 9th at their home in Malibu, California. The cause of death is not known. “We lost Mom yesterday,” confirms Michael Penn on Twitter to an older picture of his mother. The musician also posted an emoji showing a broken heart.
The actress first appeared in films and television in the 1950s. She later appeared in “At Short Distance” alongside her sons Sean and Chris. She also had smaller roles in series such as “Ally McBeal”, “Emergency Room”, “Matlock” or “Grey’s Anatomy”.
Eileen Ryan met director and actor Leo Penn (1921-1998) in 1957 and the two celebrated their marriage just a few months later. They were married until his death. The marriage produced their three sons.
