With a training strike, star striker Randal Kolo Muani wants to force a change from Eintracht Frankfurt to French soccer champions Paris Saint-Germain. The 24-year-old national player from France stayed away from the Bundesliga club’s final training session for the playoff second leg in the Conference League against Levski Sofia on Wednesday, the club announced.
“We got to know Randal differently and know his actual character. A lot is currently pouring down on him and this results in this reaction, which is wrong, which we have made clear to him and his environment and made it clear in all its effects,” criticized Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche the behavior of the attacker.
At the same time, he announced that Kolo Muani will definitely not be in the game against the Bulgarians this Thursday (8:30 p.m. / RTL and in the live stream on RTL +). “We will play the game against Sofia without him,” said the 42-year-old. After the 1-1 draw in the first leg, Eintracht needed a win to advance to the group stage. Kolo Muani had already forced his transfer on Tuesday.
“A move to Paris is now a unique opportunity for me. I would like to move to Paris and I have also informed those responsible,” he told the TV broadcaster Sky and at the same time asked for his approval: “I hope and wish that Frankfurt agrees to the offer from Paris and this change is now made possible for me.” But the Frankfurters only want to do that if the price is right. “For us it is clear: the behavior has no influence on transfer activities,” said Krösche.
Kolo Muani has a contract with Eintracht until June 30, 2027, which does not include an exit clause. The 2022 Europa League winner would let the runner-up go for a fee of at least 100 million euros. PSG is said to have recently offered 80 million euros. The French top club is said to have agreed on a five-year contract with the striker weeks ago.
