Eintracht gets important points
Hannover 96 climbs after goal and VAR festival

At the start of the 9th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, Eintracht Braunschweig celebrates an important victory and jumps from the relegation places for the time being. Meanwhile, Hannover 96 climbed to the relegation rank at least overnight. After a clear lead, the Lower Saxony have to tremble again longer.
SV Sandhausen – Hanover 96 2: 3 (0: 1)
Thanks to a win at SV Sandhausen, Hannover 96 has at least temporarily climbed to the promotion relegation place of the 2nd Bundesliga. The Lower Saxony prevailed 3: 2 (1: 0) in a game in which the video referee intervened twice. Hannover took an early lead through Cedric Teuchert (14′), before David Kinsombi gave Sandhausen hope after the break (56′, penalty kick). The guests came back immediately and celebrated their fifth win in the last six games after goals from Havard Nielsen (65′) and Sei Muroya (71′). Bashkim Ajdini only managed to get the goal back (73′).
The competition, which will still be in action this weekend, could push Hanover back from third place. Sandhausen remained without a win for the sixth time in a row and is in 13th place. The hosts started better, but missed some chances after dead balls. At the other end, Sandhausen’s Merveille Papela Teuchert left too much space. The attacker used the space and scored his third goal of the season with a shot into the far corner.
After the change of sides, Phil Neumann stopped Christian Kinsombi against the rules. After viewing the video images, referee Wolfgang Haslberger decided on a penalty kick, which the older Kinsombi brother converted. Just a few minutes later, the referee took back a penalty and a yellow-red card against Neumann. This time he watched the scene again himself. So Sandhausen didn’t manage to turn the game around. Instead, Nielsen and Muroya scored. Ajdini, who had moved up, only managed to get the final point with a header because the equalizer failed to come again in the ten-minute stoppage time.
Eintracht Braunschweig – Karlsruher SC 2: 1 (1: 0)
Newly promoted Eintracht Braunschweig has left the last three places for the first time this season. With two goals from the outstanding Anthony Ujah, Lower Saxony defeated Karlsruher SC 2-1 (1-0). The striker from Nigeria scored in the 44th and 72nd minutes after assists from Immanuel Pherai. Marvin Wanitzek equalized for KSC to make it 1-1 (54th). Ujah, who is already active in the Bundesliga for FSV Mainz 05, 1. FC Köln, Werder Bremen and most recently 1. FC Union Berlin, is a key factor in Braunschweig’s upswing.
Eintracht lost five of their first six games this season. In three consecutive games without defeat, the 31-year-old was successful against Nuremberg (4:2), Hanover (1:1) and KSC. Karlsruhe had more possession in the Eintracht Stadium, but Braunschweig were much more dangerous. After Ujah’s brace alone, they missed several opportunities to make it 3-1.
