For the former “Let’s Dance” professional dancer Ekaterina Leonova the clock is ticking: Her contract with RTL is running out. If she cannot find a new job, her residence permit will not be extended and she will have to leave Germany.

Does Ekaterina Leonova, 34, have to worry about her residence permit again? She was threatened with deportation after the last “Let’s Dance” participation in 2019. But RTL helped her and asked the business administration graduate for a job in the online editorial team of “RTL.de”. According to “Bild.de” this contract should expire at the end of August. If Ekat doesn’t find a new job quickly, she’ll have to go back to her native Russia.

“Let’s Dance” star Ekaterina Leonova: is deportation threatened?

Professional dancer Ekaterina has lived in Germany since 2008, more precisely in Cologne. She began studying business administration there in 2010 and began her TV career in 2013 as a professional dancer on the RTL dance show “Let’s Dance”, which ended in 2019. The problem: Leonova does not have an open-ended employment contract, as she had previously either worked as a freelancer and project-related or is currently in a fixed-term contract with RTL.

As “Bild.de” reports, Ekat’s contract is now running out and will not be extended. “I’m very grateful for my time at RTL. I leave with a good feeling,” she said in an interview. The native Russian describes this situation as a “turning point” in her life. She now wants to dare a fresh start.

Ekat’s new beginning: is she leaving Cologne?

Will Ekat be leaving Cologne and the shared apartment with cousin Mariia in a few weeks? Looks like it, because according to “Bild.de” the professional dancer wants to move to Hamburg and “open a new chapter” privately. A few days ago she was already in the Hanseatic city and wrote on Instagram: “I will soon be able to tell you more about the result of the business meeting [sic!]”.

In a fan question and answer session on Instagram, she last revealed that she had a new job and could soon tell more about it. Hopefully this means that their threatened deportation is off the table. One thing is certain: exciting times are ahead for Ekaterina Leonova. “Don’t be afraid to make spontaneous decisions and change your life,” she wrote in another Instagram post on June 14, 2021, shortly before her professional appointment in Hamburg. So it remains exciting in Ekat’s life.
