Ekinops: Optical Transport weighs on first quarter sales

(AOF) – In the first quarter, Ekinops’ turnover fell by 11% to 28.3 million euros. After three consecutive quarters of decline, sales of Access solutions increased by 3%. However, sales of optical transport solutions fell by 27%. Beyond the significant base effect, the specialist in telecommunications solutions explains this decline by the cautious investment and network deployment policies of telecommunications operators, associated with the existence of stocks of significant optical transport solutions. .

“The year 2024 began with a stabilized turnover compared to the last quarters of 2023, against the backdrop of an economic slowdown, and without signals of a restart at this stage,” notes Ekinops in its outlook.

In Access, the improvement in sales in France in the first quarter, against a backdrop of reductions in equipment stocks among operators, “constitutes an encouraging signal”, according to Ekinops. The group confirms that it is targeting a rebound in sales of Access equipment during 2024, in France but also in Europe, Middle East and Africa, as the economic recovery progresses.

In Optical Transport, “the launches of the new 800G product and a new OTN (Optical Transport Network) solution should contribute to better business dynamics over the coming half-years”.

In parallel with the publication of first quarter revenue, Ekinops announced the acquisition of the 5View software suite from Infovista, a publisher of mobile and fixed network infrastructure management software. 5View is a solution for analytical monitoring of application performance across networks.
