(Boursier.com) — Ekinops has been selected by the telecommunications infrastructure provider Bandwidth & Cloud Services Group (BCS) to modernize its core network on the African continent.
BCS is a pan-African wholesale telecommunications infrastructure provider that offers fiber optic connectivity solutions throughout East, Central and Southern Africa. BCS is the region’s leading partner for data transmission and cloud computing services for mobile operators and telecommunications operators.
Across its entire network, BCS represents approximately one-third of the total Internet capacity, expressed in data volume, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Rwanda, South Sudan and Uganda. BCS customers represent approximately two-thirds of all data service subscribers in these regions. The BCS network contributes about half of their capacity needs.
The project includes 1 Tbps (terabit per second) capacity regional long-haul optical transport networks across Africa and urban connectivity improvements through 44 metropolitan ring deployments delivering 10G traffic.
