Of the three German representatives, only Bayer Leverkusen made it into the quarter-finals of the Europa League. There, the Rhinelanders meet the team that eliminated Union Berlin. Manchester United travel to the same city as in the round of 16, Freiburg conqueror Juventus has to go to Portugal.

Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen meets Union Berlin conqueror Union Saint-Gilloise in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. After a 3-3 draw in the first leg, the Belgians had dominated the second leg against Köpenick, whose mistakes were severely punished and knocked them out of the competition with a clear 3-0. Leverkusen will play at their home BayArena on April 13, with the second leg taking place in Belgium a week later.

Should the factory club reach the semi-finals, the winner of the duel between Feyenoord Rotterdam and AS Roma would be the opponent. This was the result of the European Football Union (UEFA) draw in Nyon, Switzerland. After the two 2-0 wins against Ferencvaros Budapest, Leverkusen are the only Bundesliga club in the last eight of the Europa League.

For Manchester United, meanwhile, as in the round of 16, it’s off to Seville. There, the English record champions beat Betis 4-1 and 1-0 and now meet their city rivals: FC Sevilla, record winners of the Europa League. The Spaniards lost the second leg 1-0 to Fenerbahce Istanbul but were able to afford the narrow defeat thanks to a 2-0 win in the first leg.

The fourth quarter-finals are played by Juventus Turin and Sporting Lisbon. The traditional Italian club eliminated SC Freiburg (1-0/2-0), Sporting beat Arsenal on penalties. The first leg ended 2-2, in the second leg it was 1-1 after 120 minutes.

The quarter-final first leg will take place on April 13th and the second leg on April 20th. The semi-finals are scheduled for May 11 and May 18 respectively. The final will take place in Budapest on May 31 – in the stadium where Leverkusen successfully held their own against Ferencvaros.
