Elden Ring: 5 NPCs with a tragic story!

The world of Elden Ring is vast and dark, and most of the NPCs and creatures that populate the Underworld are clearly not exuding joy. Apart from a few friendly characters like Alexander or Miriel the pope turtle, it will be very rare to come across friendly faces during your adventure.

Between curses, rejections, or tragic deaths, the characters of Elden Ring are not spoiled and all have darker stories than each other. Today let’s take a look at five of them. Get out the tissues!

Warning, this article contains spoilers on Elden Ring! It is therefore advisable to complete your adventure in the Underworld before reading it.

Thops

Thops the wizard teaches us that a little generosity can hurt! Our friendly wizard is in the Church of Irith, north of Castle Veilorage. He will ask you for the modest sum of 10 runes, and if you give it to him, he will tell you his story. He is currently a student at the prestigious Raya Lucaria Academy.

The young wizard would unfortunately be lost and will ask you for help in order to be able to return to his Academy. You will therefore have to bring him a shardstone key so that he can finally enter Raya Lucaria’s compound.

Later, if you wish to visit him, you will find him dead at an Academy office. In the game is not specified the reason for his death. Could this death be the work of a jealous comrade, or of a badly controlled fate? We’ll never know.

A family drama

One of the first quests in the game will lead you to meet Irina, a young blind woman who will ask you to deliver a letter to her father at Château de Morne (Vent-Hurlant). The young woman seems disoriented, having lost everything because of the wars raging in the region.

Elden Ring

You will therefore have to try to reunite the little family, finding the father. The latter will explain to you that he will not leave the Castle in question until he has defeated the Leonine chimera. After defeating the latter, Irina’s father will finally be able to find his dear daughter… who is unfortunately dead.

The scene is more than sad, we observe Irina’s father next to her deceased body, crying and promising revenge. Sadly, it won’t bring his dear daughter back to life, no doubt. killed by passing bandits.

Hyetta

Logical continuation of Irina’s quest, that of Hyetta, also blind, is no more joyful. The young woman is on the bridge north of the Weeping Peninsula, in Necrolimbo. She will ask you for help to find a fruit allowing her to “see the light”, despite his blindness. Brilliant dull that you are, you will therefore bring him this mysterious fruit.

Elden Ring

The fruit of Shabriri is indeed… human eyes! You will therefore have to admit it to Hyetta, who will vomit all his guts to finally end up enjoying the “fruit” in question. According to her, it is first of all the taste that counts!

No tragic death this time so but cannibalism well and truly assumed! The young woman will even become an expert in this kind of “kitchen” and will ask you to get him a new ingredient: the fruit of the fingers.

Worse than the tests of Koh-Lanta …

Blaidd

The half-wolf warrior is one of the most appreciated characters by the community, thanks to his more than successful design and his impressive combat techniques. Blaidd is at the center of Ranni’s quests, so you will come across his path throughout your adventure in the Underworld. He is indeed a great friend and faithful servant of the witch.

Elden Ring

Blaidd was created by Two Fingers to protect Ranni, but what neither character knows is that he is a real trap for the witch. By giving her life, the Two Fingers also implanted her with a very particular mission: to kill Ranni if she were to abandon them.

When she walks away from Two Fingers, Blaidd fights against himself so as not to kill his most faithful friend. So much so that he goes crazy and you will therefore have no choice but to kill him. It’s here a terrible loss for Ranni, but also for the Shinless, for whom the half-wolf warrior had become a comrade in arms.

giant jellyfish

This is surely one of the most tragic stories of the Underworld. It was the community that discovered this well-hidden link between two giant jellyfish, called Aurelia and Aureliette. Aurelia is the name of a giant jellyfish that you can summon in-game to lend a hand. The invocation in question will be given to you by an NPC who will not stop calling it “the little”.

Elden Ring

On Aurelia’s file, we can read “remains of ashes in which still remains a soul”. But the worst is yet to come. In the northeastern part of the map, you will find snowy ruins, in which another giant jellyfish, named Aureliette, roams.

The latter repeats “Sister, where have you been? You promised me that when we hit 14, we could see the stars. I’ve been waiting for so long, and forever seemingly….”. If you summon Aurelia alongside Aureliette, you’ll unlock a dialogue between the two giant jellyfish.

In the sequence, Aureliette says, with a child’s voice: “Sister! You’re finally here! No time to lose, let’s go see the stars”. The two sisters will disappear, finally reunited by the Shinless. A short interaction that confirms that these giant jellyfish are indeed… deceased children whose tombs can be found outside.

“Who have never seen the stars”

This is something that moves us! Maybe, the next time you come across these characters during your journey, you will have a moving thought for those who have not always had it easy (and death either).

Our hero Let Me Solo Her (still in his underwear) once again surprises the Elden Ring community during the final stream in which he comes to kill the terrible Malenia instead of the players. Thus, it definitely fits into the legend of FromSoftware’s title.
