Elden Ring: A Secret Wall fascinates the community

If Elden Ring is your first FromSoftware game, you’re probably wondering about the many messages in front of all sorts of walls. Hidden passageways behind walls are something of a tradition in the Japanese studio’s games, but a wall in Elden Ring currently fascinates even veterans.

Elden Ring: An illusion that doesn’t want to be

In the FromSoftware games there are various walls that are just an illusion and which, after a brave blow against the masonry, reveal a secret passage. Of course, these walls also exist in Elden Ring, but there seems to be a new type of wall. In a much-discussed Reddit thread, a fan shows a wall he or she is pointing at hit exactly 50 times, so that it disappears. So for an illusion, this wall is very resilient.

Usually these walls disappear with a certain sound, it’s just gone in an instant, so it looks more like a bug than an intended mechanic in the game. It’s enough to get the community in mock panic, though, as they’re going to spend the next week beating the architecture of the Between Lands 50 hits at a time.

Elden Ring experts have a theory

In the Reddit thread mentioned above, various players have already suggested that this is a bug. Dataminer Zullie the Witch shared via Twitter an appropriate theory. Accordingly, the wall is a Remnant of an event canceled during development. The wall was an object destructible by a prescribed event that was either forgotten or has a bug.

Incidentally, Zullie the Witch also unmasked the NPCs from Elden Ring:

There are actually more such walls in Reddit, the first to disappear after many hits. Only FromSoftware can explain whether this is intentional or not, so far there have been no statements from the studio. Either way, the community will start looking for the fascinating walls.
