Since the announcement ofElden RingFrom Software boasts of its collaboration with George RR Martin, but it is still difficult to define its contours. If we know that the famous author participated in the development of this atypical universe, in particular via his characters, his participation remains unclear as the game is imbued with the aura of Miyazaki. An amusing theory then circulated around the fact that George RR Martin had named the important characters of the game using his initialsbut the author has just refuted all that.

Ranni, Radagon, Godrick, Malenia… all of these demigods have one thing in common: their names begin with one of the letters used as initials by George RR Martin. However, the author denies having hidden this small reference to himself in the game :
” There’s a weird story all over the internet about how I ‘hid’ my initials in Elden Ring because…ah…some of the characters have names starting with R, or G, or M. To whom I say, “Huh? What ? Really ? » I learn it. I’ve been writing and publishing stories since 1971, and I suspect I’ve been giving character names starting with R and G and M from the start. With the other twenty-three letters of the alphabet, it’s hard to come up with names, especially since A Song Of Ice & Fire uses so many of them, and I like to give family members and close to names that have something in common… but really, why should I hide my name in the game? My name is right there, ON the game, as one of the creators. Hey, Elden Ring is pretty exciting, no need to make stuff up. »
The author therefore shows an outspokenness that we know him well, and therefore declares that this theory does not have him to be. A merry coincidence in short, or something unconscious.
