Elden Ring: patch 1.04 massively overhauls spells

On April 19, FromSoftware’s game was entitled to maintenance, as well as the deployment of an update. Here are the 1.04 patch notes, with the list of all the changes in French. This update corrects many bugs, but it mainly balances spells and incantations.

We can discover in patch notes 1.04 of Elden Ring, that a good number of spells have been revised upwards and some have been nerfed. In addition, the Ashes of War are also undergoing a small rework, but only one is being nerfed at the end of this patch.

Regarding gameplay, many bugs have been fixed, including online servers for players who play multiplayer. One of the revolutions of this patch lies in the automatic rotation of the camera which can be activated or not at the discretion of the players.

Additional items added

  • Added option to enable/disable automatic camera rotation
  • Added some event phases for NPC Pat

Improvements

  • Increased the attack speed of Colossal Swords/Colossal Weapons and reduced their cooldown. Jump attack not included.
  • Increased two-handed attack damage of Colossal Swords / Colossal Weapons. Jump attack not included.
  • Increased the physical block rate and guard increase of the Colossal Sword, Colossal Arms, Greatsword, Great Hammer, Great Axe, Great Spear, and Halberd weapon classes.
  • Increased Fused Greatsword damage.
  • Increased Devourer’s Scepter damage.
  • Decreased the scaling of the stacking status effects of spells and incantations of the Staff of the Albinauric and the Seal of Communion of the Draconic.
  • Decreased the effect of the Shield Talisman for weapons with a high block rate.
  • Shortened the duration of the madness afflicted animation.
  • Reduced Madness buildup recovery speed.
  • Slightly increased CP growth rate and stamina at lower levels.

Witchcraft and Incantations

All the sorceries below have been improved by the developers:

  • Crystal Barrage — Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time.
  • Hammer of Haima — Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time. Allows the caster to more easily resist attacking enemies while casting
  • Earthshatter — Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time. Allows the caster to more easily resist attacking enemies while casting
  • Rock Piercer — Decreased recovery time. Allows the caster to more easily resist attacking enemies while casting
  • Thop’s Force Field — Increased area of ​​effect and slightly increased duration of effect
  • Rennala Full Moon — Increased casting speed and decreased cooldown.
  • Ranni’s Dark Moon — Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time.
  • Caria’s Greatsword — Increased low dexterity cast speed
  • Magma Shot — Decreased CP cost and increased casting speed
  • Magma Flow — Increased casting speed and decreased time until magma explodes
  • Gelmir’s Fury — Slightly decreased the random nature of the projectile’s range and increased the damage of the lava pool. Hitbox increase
  • Rykard’s Rancor — CP cost decreased
  • Oracle Bubbles — Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time.
  • Great Prophetic Sphere — Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time.

  • Explosive Spectral Flames — Decreased CP cost and cooldown
  • Bonesharker — Increased damage and casting speed
  • Aspects of the Crucible: Tail — Decreased cost in CP and stamina
  • Crucible Aspects: Horns — Decreased CP and stamina cost, increased casting speed. Increased distance traveled when uncharged and made it easier to flinch enemies when charged
  • Stars of Elden — Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time
  • Ebon Blade — Decreased stamina consumption and decreased recovery time
  • Disk of Light — CP cost decreased. Increased damage and casting speed

  • Lightning Bolt — Decreased stamina cost. Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time.
  • Targeted Lightning — Increased casting speed and decreased cooldown.
  • Elder Dragons Lightning Spear — Decreased CP and stamina cost. Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time. Allows the caster to more easily resist enemy attacks while casting.
  • Elder Dragon Bolt — Decreased Cooldown
  • Lansseax’s Glaive — Decreased CP and Stamina cost. Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time. Allows the caster to more easily resist enemy attacks while casting.
  • Fortissax Lightning Spear — CP and stamina cost decreased. Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time. Allows the caster to resist enemy attacks while casting more easily.
  • Icy Lightning Spear — Decreased stamina cost. Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time. Allows the caster to more easily resist enemy attacks while casting.
  • Doom Bolts — Decreased CP cost, increased duration of smoke stacking death
  • Oh flame! — Increased damage
  • Large Fireball — Stamina cost decreased
  • Flame of the Cruel God — CP cost decreased and damage increased
  • Surge, oh flame! — Decreased CP cost and increased damage
  • Pillars of Flame — Damage increased, cooldown decreased
  • Black Fireball — Increases damage and the spell can break the enemy’s guard more easily.
  • Black Flame Whip — Decreased CP cost and cooldown. Increased attack range and area of ​​effect.
  • Ritual of Black Flames — CP cost reduced and damage increased.
  • Bestial Claws of Gurranq — Increased damage and reduced recovery time.
  • Talons of Bloodfire — Decreased CP cost and increased casting speed. Decreased recovery time.
  • Blood Boon — Increased damage. Increased casting speed and decreased effect start time, decreased recovery time.
  • Rotten Threads — Decreased stamina cost.
  • Scarlet Iony Blossom — Increased casting speed and decreased cooldown. Allows the caster to more easily resist enemy attacks while casting.
  • Unsustainable Frenzy — Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time. Decreased the random nature of projectile range and increased madness buildup on enemies.
  • Unstoppable Frenzy — Increased casting speed.
  • Ruins of Placidusax — Decreased CP, stamina cost, and cooldown.
  • Dragon Claws — Decreased CP, stamina cost and cooldown and made it easier to flinch enemies when charged.
  • Dragon’s Maw — Decreased CP, stamina cost, cooldown, and increased casting speed, and made it easier to flinch enemies when charged.
  • Greyoll’s Cry — Decreased CP, stamina cost, and cooldown.

The spells below have simply received a small reduction in one aspect in favor of an increase in another:

  • Adula’s Moonblade — Decreased the power of single throw and improved performance so that blades and frost hit more consistently and continuously. Increased cast speed at low dexterity.
  • Fireball — Decreased the damage of a single throw and improved performance so it hits the enemy multiple times. Decreased PC cost.
  • Shabriri’s Cry — Decreased Insanity buildup on the enemy. Increased casting speed and decreased recovery time.

Then finally, the different magics below get a big nerf:

  • Fly Swarm — Decreased bleed buildup on enemy.
  • Exalted Flame — Decreased Insanity buildup on the enemy.
  • Exalted Explosion — Decreased Insanity buildup on the enemy.

Bug fixes

FromSoftware have cleaned up a good list of bugs. We think in particular of the death of Millicent following the fight with Malenia, but also of the improvement of stability in multiplayer. Many lines of dialogues and quest sequences have been corrected, in order to increase the quality of life of the players.
