FromSoftware launches a free update of Elden Ring to open the doors of the Colosseum, arenas that will appeal to fans of competitive gaming.
If you have spent time in the environments of Elden Ring, you have certainly come across a Colosseum (there are several on the map). However, you were unable to open its doors. These huge buildings have long been a mystery to fans. We now know what they will be used for: in a tweet posted on December 6FromSoftware announces the launch of an update that will turn them into arenas.
” Prove your worth in various duels and battles, together or alone in the free Colosseum update. Available December 7 “, indicates the Japanese studio. It does not really specify the nature of the clashes, but a short clip shows games up to three against three. This will obviously delight lovers of competitive multiplayer, knowing that Elden Ring was singled out for its online mode.
A little free DLC before the big expansion for Elden Ring?
These once-closed Coliseums have long been a delight for those who love to push the limits imposed by developers and find themselves in normally inaccessible areas. By searching the game files, some had even found several mentions of PvP modes (players against players) or elements related to these arenas (such as the presence of Sites of Grace, which allow you to teleport from one place to other). The opening of the doors is therefore not really a surprise, and this introduces an area more suitable for online jousting enthusiasts.
The timing of the formalization nevertheless remains strange on the part of FromSoftware, brought to receive many praises during the ceremony of The Game Awards (broadcast on the night of Thursday to Friday). Next to God of War Ragnarok, Elden Ring is the big favorite in the most prized category, and we thought publisher Bandai Namco would save a big announcement for the occasion.
