Elden Ring: This quest removed from the final version disappoints lore fans

If for once we plunged into what could have been rather than what actually is? Indeed, even if Elden Ring still has many secrets to reveal to us in its final version, it may have had even more when it was pre release. Unfortunately for us, some features were removed before the game was officially released, some of which for no apparent reason. Will they reappear in future patches or DLC? That’s what we hope.

Today, let’s take a look at a game mechanic not available in its final version: the Dream Mist.

Are you ready to face all the mysteries of the Underworld?

An unusual missing quest

This discovery comes to us from the YouTuber Lance Mcdonald whose specialty is precisely to explore the versions pre release games to discover everything that didn’t make it into the final version. On April 11, it was a video about Elden Ring that he released, or at least on the version of the game that will have been used to carry out the last network tests in November 2021. He was therefore able to explore an Inter-Earth a little different from ours and discover in particular a quest we can never start.

Passing by Valorage’s cabinshortly before the eponymous castle, you must have met Roderika. The YouTuber was surprised to discover an unknown NPC instead of the young woman. The latter taught him that he was capable of realizing a potion worthy of the demigods and forbidden to humans, and that he wanted to share it with the player who would bring him the necessary ingredients.

What was the Dream Mist used for?

To complete this quest, you must collect Dream Mistan item that can be recovered from everything sleeping character (humans, animals and even monsters). As you may have noticed while playing, some NPCs never wake up no matter what you do around them. They had originally been designed specifically for this quest and remained in the final version of the game even if the quest was removed.

Once the ingredients are in your possession and brought back to the sponsor, the quest ends and you get the famous potion. The latter can be offered to other NPCs in the game who then fall asleep and let you see their dreams and so learn more about them and the general lore of Elden Ring. A very interesting mechanism for history buffs, so it’s a shame that we finally can’t enjoy it! Video rapidly gaining in popularity, maybe FromSoftware will agree to put this quest back into play in a future update if the community shows enough interest.
