Election day in Tyrol – LIVE: First NEOS local boss in Austria voted out

Local council and mayoral elections are taking place in 273 of the 277 Tyrolean communities today. In the live ticker of the “Tiroler Krone” you can find out the results, background, reactions and which local chief candidates have to go to the runoff in two weeks. There have already been a few surprises. For example, Austria’s first NEOS mayor, Markus Moser, was voted out of office in Mils near Imst. The first MFG results are also available. The district capitals are eagerly awaited.

The most important details at a glance: The municipal council and mayoral elections are taking place today in 273 Tyrolean municipalities. There are no elections in Innsbruck, Matrei am Brenner (election day March 20, 2022) and Wängle, where the election took place in January after the municipal council was dissolved in autumn. No election proposal was submitted in the municipality of Musau – so the previous mayor and municipal council remain in office without an election. Municipal Council: Number of nominations/lists in all 273 municipalities: 856 (2016: 874). Mayor: Number of nominations/candidates: 562 (2016: 543), of which 11.2 percent were women and 88.8 percent were men. Number of eligible voters: approx. 505,400 people.
