Elections in the canton of Nidwalden – interim result: green liberals about to enter government – News

contents

So far, ten out of eleven communities have been counted. Who will make it into the seven-member government? You can find an overview of the election results here.

So far there are results from ten of the eleven communities – only Buochs is missing. The interim results show clear advantages for the previous five (Othmar Filliger and Karin Kayser from the middle, Michèle Blöchliger and Res Schmid from the SVP and Joe Christen from the FDP). Othmar Filliger has the best result so far.

For the other two seats, it looks best for Therese Rotzer from the middle. She has even overtaken the previous Res Schmid, but this can still change.

Amazing things are happening in the fight for the seventh seat. Peter Truttmann from the Green Liberals is currently in the lead, followed by Armin Odermatt from the SVP and the two FDP people Judith Odermatt and Dominik Steiner. An election for the Green Liberals would be a double surprise: First, the party is running for the first time, and second, the FDP would lose a seat in the government. In any case, the interim result should be taken with a pinch of salt: It is also still unclear whether there will be a second round of voting.

Far behind in last place is Urs Lang from the Aufrecht club. This was a group of people who were against the Corona measures.

The place in the Nidwalden executive has never been so coveted in the past 20 years. Five of the seven current members of the government ran for re-election. There were also six other candidates who wanted to get a seat in the Nidwalden government.
