Electric bike bonus: more eligible households from 2023

This Tuesday, December 27, 2022, the French government announced an extension in 2023 of aid for the purchase of an electric bicycle in order to strengthen the ambitious “bicycle plan”. In a press release, the Ministry of Ecological Transition promises raised thresholds from January 1, the objective being to ensure that 50% of the poorest households are financially supported in the acquisition of an electric bicycle.

Technically, this eligibility threshold will be increased from €13,489 to €14,089 of reference tax income per unit. As a reminder, the bonus for the purchase of an electric bicycle offered by the State can reach €300. It can even climb to €400 for precarious and disabled people. Again, the reference tax threshold per unit will be slightly increased later in the year, from €6,300 to €6,358.

“The bicycle is a real solution for getting around on short trips without polluting, and fully contributes to the ecological transition. This transition must be accessible to all French people. This is why we have decided to extend these purchase aids throughout 2023, for the benefit of low-income households.declares Minister Clément Beaune.

With its bicycle plan, the government hopes to achieve a triple objective combining public health, economic recovery and the fight against global warming.
