It was an ambitious goal. Perhaps even too ambitious in view of the deadlines given to it. In 2020, the Minister of Transport at the time, Jean-Baptiste Djebarri, who has since enjoyed a new career in the private sector, wanted France to have 100,000 electric charging stations by the end of 2021. Given that the time was clearly too short to achieve this objective, it was then decided to extend the deadline to the end of 2022.
And it is finally this Friday, May 5 that the threshold of 100,000 terminals was crossed by France, according to an announcement made by Avere-France, the association bringing together professionals in electric mobility. It must be said that the double bites have been put on in recent months, with no less than 17,000 terminals installed on French territory since last January. And out of this hundred thousand pieces of equipment, about 10% of them allow, moreover, to recharge more quickly.

If, with this figure, France is now positioned in second place in Europe, behind the Netherlands, but even ahead of the country of the automobile that is Germany, it is however only a beginning. for the authorities. The government now wishes to achieve the objective of 400,000 terminals present in France by 2030. This would make it possible to benefit from an infrastructure that meets the demand of the population.
