According to the barometer published by Avere France, new car registrations are on the rise in France in August.
In its own words, “Avere-France is the national association for the development of electric mobility”. As such, it frequently publishes reports covering sales of electric cars in the region. This is how she provides us with the statistics for the month of August which only confirm a general trend: thermal cars are always giving up more ground to electric models.

According to the association, “ as of August 31, 2023, 1,374,599 passenger and utility vehicles were registered, all energies combined, an increase of + 14.8% compared to the first eight months of 2022.” The improvement is even more noticeable in terms of electric and hybrid cars, with an increase of 44.1% (including 52% for 100% electric vehicles). The market share of electric passenger vehicles now represents 15.2% of registrations in 2023, an increase of 2 points compared to 2022.
Electric cars are slowly gaining market share
In terms of car models, one company clearly stands out from the crowd, at least in terms of private electric vehicles. We know that the Tesla Model Y is the best-selling car in the world, all engines combined. This is also reflected in the sales figures in France. According to Avere France, the American company sold there 3051 Model Y and 2258 Model 3 in August. The Peugeot e-208 is third in the category with 1,915 units sold. Note all the same that despite a spectacular increase in sales of these three models (+335%, +785% and +115% respectively), the first electric car in the “general ranking” only comes in fourth position, therefore at the foot of the podium.

Tesla can rejoice in the popularity of its products, and the company could ride this wave of popularity for some time to come. It has just presented its new Model 3 which proves to be more efficient in every way than its predecessor in terms of equipment, performance and autonomy.
