Initiatives to enable and facilitate the installation of charging stations in France are multiplying. Latest: the PACA region, which announces the extension of its “Zero emissions on the road” system.

Today, several aids are available to encourage the deployment of charging infrastructures, terminals not to mention them, intended in particular for condominiums. The PACA region (or “South Region”, its new very marketing name), last week adopted the first budget 100% dedicated to the climate in Europe. Behind this somewhat pompous qualification, the community is announcing an extension of its “Zero emission on the road” system, to allow the installation of electric charging stations in condominiums.

Installation of terminals facilitated by the establishment of low emission zones (ZFE)

The PACA region tells us that it has already been able to support, since 2019, some 65 operations representing 800 charging points for electric vehicles, citing the figure of 3.5 million euros in subsidies. Support in addition to the bioethanol check, which had made it possible to finance, on the 1er September 2022, more than 3,000 kits, for more than 1 million euros.

But since the beginning of the year, gasoline prices have continued to rise, and after a lull, some fuels are still around, or even exceed, 2 euros per liter today. Currently, 11 cities (including Lyon, Greater Paris and Marseille) have set up low emission zones (ZFE), to gradually improve air quality and force residents to change their travel habits.

The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region has decided to expand the work eligible for its system in order to support the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles that all types of condominiums would like to set up.

Several programs are developing in line with legislation

The aim of the approach is to enable each user to recharge directly from their mobile “, indicates the Provençal community. ” We must think of a new mobility, with sustainable and environmentally friendly transport. For this, we help the inhabitants of our region to deploy electric vehicles “.

Elsewhere in France, several companies, groups or associations are now deploying programs to facilitate meetings between installers and condominiums. This is the case of the AVERA AURA association (in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region) which deploys a free training program for condominium trustees and elected union councils, to coach them on electric mobility and its branches ( regulations, solutions for setting up charging stations in collective housing, subsidies and billing programs). In Paris, Plugelec is installing car charging stations in Paris and Île-de-France.

The government now favors the installation of a collective charging solution, for tenants and owners, which allows cost sharing and offers consistency of the electricity network, in addition to facilitating the installation of future terminals. In theory, the issue of implementing charging solutions must be on the agenda for existing buildings (since the mobility orientation law of December 2019). For new buildings, there is a pre-equipment obligation for the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles in new residential buildings.

Electric car: which charging solution to choose?

Choosing a charging solution adapted to your electric car is not always easy: between the different existing charging methods, the type of cable originally supplied, the standards in force, the charging times and the use made of the car, you quickly get lost. We take stock of the subject in order to better understand the existing solutions.
