Out of nine E-Fullys, seven get good grades. But there is criticism – also in terms of safety and handling.

The tested e-mountain bikes in order of score:

Thanks to their front and rear suspension, fullys are the all-terrain vehicles among bicycles. In this way, the optimal settings can always be selected in the terrain uphill and downhill. Interest in electric mountain bikes is now growing, and more and more bikers are going up the mountain with an e-MTB – and with the e-fully on demanding trails that cannot be mastered without a motor.

Because of the equipment, the bikes cost money. In cooperation with TCS and ADAC, “Kassensturz” has tested nine of these luxury cars, they cost between 4,350 and 6,000 francs. This price range is even at the lower end for fullys with an electric drive. It is therefore not surprising that no e-mountain bike failed the comprehensive laboratory and practical test.

The best: Cube Stereo Hybrid and Giant Stance

test winner Cube Stereo Hybrid is a successful all-rounder with top equipment. Unfortunately, the bike is no longer available in this version. The most similar current e-fully from Cube is the Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC SLX.

The second place Giant Stance E+ Pro 0 with Yamaha drive convinces in many aspects: very good brakes, manoeuvrable, good starting of the drive. The operating unit, which is not ergonomic, attracted negative attention.

Bulls is attractively priced, Flyer Uproc X in the middle

E-mountain bikes from the Bulls, Haibike and KTM brands, which are also “good”, follow in third to fifth place. Bull’s Sonic Evo is the most attractively priced of the six “good” models (5199 francs). However, there are also safety-related criticisms of this bike: for example, that the pedals touch the ground in tight corners or the two-finger operation of the brakes. A one-finger brake would be necessary for optimal safety on descents.

Also in midfield flyers, the Swiss bike in the test. The testers attested the best riding characteristics of the most expensive bike tested, but here too the two-finger brakes gave rise to criticism.

The cheap ones are slightly behind: Scott, Canon and Radon

Two E-MTBs fall slightly behind and only achieve the overall rating of “sufficient”. Canyon Neuron:on 8 performs worst in «Propulsion system and motor», Scott and Canyon are the worst to handle.

Scott, Canyon and the German brand Radon are the cheapest, but also end up in the last three places. So there isn’t much to get for bargain hunters: There isn’t a clear price-performance winner in this test.

radon is only available in Germany. Because there is a service partner in Switzerland, the brand is also a possible alternative for Swiss customers.

Heavy weight not as disruptive as expected

E-Fullys are really heavy, between 24.5 and 38.3 kilos in the test. The practical test has shown that the weight only has a limiting effect off-road if the bikes have to be carried over obstacles.
