Electric propulsion: Stellantis announces a partnership with Qinomic

(Boursier.com) — Stellantis announces that it is partnering with Qinomic, a French mobility specialist, to develop a “retrofit” solution intended to convert light commercial vehicles with combustion engines into electric-powered models.

Stellantis clarified that the partnership involved its ‘Circular Economy’ unit: “This retrofit solution aims to extend the life and use of vehicles, while providing access to a zero-emission solution at an affordable price”, said the group. “In a market boosted by last-mile logistics, access restrictions in the city will force owners of recent light commercial vehicles to seek a solution to transform them into zero-emission vehicles”, explained Eric Laforge, vice-president of Stellantis in charge of utilities for Europe.

“Retrofit technology like this will allow Stellantis to support this trend,” adds the group, which plans to develop the project next year, with implementation and commercialization to begin in France in 2024.
