As you may know, from September 1, 2022, parking for motorized two-wheelers becomes chargeable in the streets of Paris. For the occasion, we have also written a complete file on the subject. Prices, times, locations, free admission, you will find the essential information you need to know.

With 42,000 parking spaces announced by the town hall for more than 500,000 motorized two-wheelers in circulation in Paris, parking your thermal 2WD will quickly be a hassle. And especially, parking is likely to weigh heavily on bikers’ finances. For good reason, the visitor price will be set at €37.50 in zone 1 (from the 1st to the 11th arrondissement) for 6 hours of parking, and at €25 from the 12th to the 20th for the same duration.

There are indeed the Resident tariffs which make it possible to lighten the bill, with flat rates set at €45 for three years, or €22.5 per year. With this formula, users will be able to pay less for their parking, up to €0.75 per day or €4.50 per week.

The electric scooter, the best option to avoid paid parking

Nevertheless, the best option for the wallet remains to opt for a scooter or an electric two-wheeler. Indeed, owners of electric PTWs can benefit from the “Low emission vehicle” offer, which allows you to park for free on any paying site.

And precisely, the Parisians were not mistaken. As our colleagues from BFM TV explain, sales of electric scooters and two-wheelers have exploded in the capital in recent weeks. Rayan, commercial manager of an Easy-Watts dealership, says doubling its sales in just one year.

It must be said that with the various offers offered for purchase by the government, by the Ile-de-France region and by the city of Paris, the price of an electric scooter can melt visibly. Thereby, an electric two-wheeler displayed at €1959 will ultimately be negotiated at €1199.

Purchasing aids that motivate users

Here is a detailed description of the assistance offered:

  • the city of Paris grants a bonus set at 33% of the purchase price of the vehicle, capped at €400for new electric PTWs with engine power greater than or equal to 2 kW
  • the Métropole du Grand Paris grants a means-tested subsidy for the purchase of an electric PTW which can amount to between 600 and 1400 €within the limit of 50% of the purchase price
  • the Ile-de-France region reserves aid for VSEs and SMEs with more than 50 employees, with a bonus between 1500 and 3000 € for two-wheelers with a net power of less than 11 kW
  • Finally, the government obviously offers the ecological bonus, with an amount set at €250/kWh of energy from the battery, for a maximum of 900 €

Thanks to these offers, electric scooters have been emulated in Paris, to such an extent that delivery times can now reach two months depending on the model and color.
