Electronic Arts Announces Record Full Year Revenue and a Busy Start to 2023

If the turnover attracts attention, the operating profit is not left out since it reached one billion euros. According to Electronic Arts, 12 games generated more than $100 million for the full year across all platforms. As has been the case for a few years, two monsters are doing well: Apex Legends, whose revenue is up 40% annually, and FIFA 22, considered the franchise’s biggest success at this stage. Electronic Arts claims 580 million active accounts (up 16%) and 150 million players on the FIFA franchise (which includes FIFA Mobile and FIFA Online 4 in Asia).

For the fiscal year that has just begun, Electronic Arts is displaying a rather thin calendar but which has not revealed all its secrets. After F1 22, which will be released on July 1, FIFA 23, Madden NFL 23 and NHL 23 will come as every year to animate the summer, before the Need for Speed franchise makes its return in the last quarter.

But the most interesting concerns the first quarter of 2023, a quarter during which EA plans to release no less than 4 games in addition to PGA Tour. The first is based on a major license (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2?), the second is developed by a partner studio (the next EA Originals has not yet been unveiled), the third is a remake (Dead Space? ) and the last another sports game (UFC 5?).

On the mobile side, one of the main current priorities of Electronic Arts, Apex Legends Mobile and The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth are expected this year. Andrew Wilson also mentioned the case of Battlefield Mobile, whose tests are underway and which could be released between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. After the Battlefield 2042 rout, Electronic Arts explains however that it does not want to rush. Good idea, hey.
