Electronic Arts teams up with Omega Force (Dynasty Warriors) and Koei Tecmo for a Monster Hunter-style action-RPG

This is probably the most unlikely news of the day. Impossible to predict such a partnership between two publishers so different, and yet, Electronic Arts intends to associate with Koei-Tecmo to produce a very particular game. And EA especially wants to get the studio Omega Forceto whom we owe in particular the series of Dynasty Warriors. Here’s what we know about this next game that no one saw coming.

Monster Hunter Warriors

The success of monster hunter has given ideas to other publishers, and it is not Microsoft who will say the opposite. EA announced today that it is seeking reinforcements for produce a monster-hunting action-RPG AAA game, and went to the side of Japan to find this. It is therefore Koei Tecmo and especially Omega Force who will support EA in the production of this new game, which will be published under the EA Originals label.

For the moment, we do not know the title of the game, but it should transport us to a fantasy world set in feudal Japanwhich explains a little more about the choice of partners here.

A presentation this week?

Yosuke HayashiExecutive Vice President of Koei Tecmo, said:

We’re honored to partner with EA Originals and have the support of a team with such a track record of groundbreaking games. The EA team fully supports our creative independence, and this partnership provides us with valuable development and publishing support. By combining EA’s global resources with our own, we will be able to deliver a new kind of monster hunting game and increase our impact in international markets. I can’t wait for players around the world to discover this new title. »

As for EA, it’s the turn of Jeff GamonCEO of EA Partners to welcome this partnership;

Building on the incredible success of EA Originals, which includes the recent releases of It Takes Two and Knockout City, we are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Omega Force. Its combat gameplay expertise combined with unexpected and innovative mechanics will take monster hunting gaming to the next level. We can’t wait to bring his groundbreaking new adventure to the world later this month.. »

We can’t wait to see what an Omega Force game could look like with the means of Electronic Arts, especially with a monster hunter-like.

And it shouldn’t be long, since the title will be announced later in the month. Really later, or this week? Remember that the Tokyo Game Show opens its doors very soon, and that a State of Play will take place tonight, so who knows.
